As we all know the south of Australia is swept by many fires in febuary 2009
The official death toll stands at 173 it is a sad thing that so many people lost the lives
feb 7 2009
I will never forget that day. I was enjoying a lovely day at the beach with mates, it was the first time I'd been in a long time. Blissfully unaware. Though we knew it was the hottest Victorian day on record, we had NO IDEA what would result.
Driving home we spotted glimpses of smoke here and there and a friend messaged me concerned about the fires in my own hometown Bendigo. This was the first we realized anything was happening.
My friend who is a CFA volunteer switched the car radio to abc to listen to the updates. We couldn't believe what they were saying, half the state seemed to be on fire!!
It was the scariest thing I've ever experienced, and I wasn't even in the front line.
I cannot imagine the terror those poor people went through in their last moments. I hope they are all in a better place and knowing that all those still here loved them.
The Australian spirit and generosity is unbelievable and I know these communities will rebuild stronger than ever, though they will be always scarred.
May they rest in peace and lets hope tragedies of this magnitude and ferocity can never occur again.
xoxo
Prayers
I am from Ontario and I cannot imagine the grief, sorrow and pain your all going through right now..I am praying for you all in this sad time..God Bless You All.
Words can't express how sorry I feel for you all. I have lost someone very close to me in the last few months which is painful enough, so I can not begin to imagine how you mourn a whole family, or indeed, a whole community.
Sending love and prayers for you all

Sweet Spring
When the gloomy gray sky turns to clear azure blue,
And the snow disappears from the ground,
When the birds start to sing, and our moods start to lift,
Then we know Spring is coming around.
When the first flower bulbs poke their heads toward the sun,
Golden daffodils, hyacinths, too;
When the brown grass turns green, and the wildflowers bloom,
Then sweet Spring makes its showy debut.
Once again we awake from cold winter's pale dream,
As our minds and our bodies revive;
We rejoice and delight in spring’s colorful sight;
Each new spring makes us glad we’re alive!
